Monty was rescued many years ago, dirty and starving, so nobody knew how old he was.
He was not my dog but belonged to friends of mine so I saw him a lot and looked after him on occasion.
He started to slow down a few months back and recently a lump was discovered on his neck. It was decided to operate, but unfortunately the tumour was too large to remove.
Monty said good-bye to his human family and was then helped on his way.
He was about the same size as a Pekinese with similar facial features and the beautiful auburn red coat that they have. He had long ears and a magnificent plume of a tail. Monty was feisty, and had a "don't mess with me" attitude. As with many small dogs, he was brave as a lion.
Cheerio my little friend until we meet again.
